Chance For Chase
Chase was diagnosed with cystinosis at 20 months of age on October 15, 2013. Cystinosis is a rare, incurable metabolic disease in which the amino acid cystine accumulates within tissues. This build up eventually destroys all the body’s organs including the kidneys, liver, muscles, white blood cells, eyes and central nervous system.
Since his diagnosis, our lives have changed tremendously. Chase does not eat enough to thrive so we must supplement calories via a feeding tube. We also use this tube to administer the critical medications he needs to stay alive. Our daily medication schedule is 8am, 11am, 5pm, 8pm and 11pm. These medications help to slow the progression of cystinosis but there is no cure. We are so thankful for these medications, however, they do cause Chase to have nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite and a strong body odor.
Through it all, Chase remains a happy, active two year old who doesn’t let cystinosis slow him down. He is a true boy that loves his superheroes and already tells mommy and daddy about his different “girlfriends!” Chase is the most loving, caring and sweetest boy you will ever meet. He is definitely our superhero!
Please join us at the Pelican Preserve Community Clubhouse for a wonderful evening including a special dinner prepared by the club’s executive chef, a silent auction, live entertainment by DJ Ali, and cash bar to raise money to support research for better treatments and a CURE for cystinosis!
